It’s construction season in Chicago. I think about the handful of projects that affect me: a new track being added to my train line, sidewalks being torn apart on my route to work, and concrete staircases being resurfaced outside of my office. All good things. But they can be an inconvenience.
Construction is messy, loud, and forces you to rearrange your schedule or habits to acclimate.
Isn’t God’s work in your life the same way? Messy and totally unavoidable. And how easy is it to see God’s work as an inconvenience? Way too easy. No one wants to be resurfaced- ouch. Or torn apart- ugh.
But built together- That’s something we all want- To be built together for something better. Something powerful and beautiful: the Spirit of God.
So, build me together God. Resurface me, do a new thing, build a better dwelling.
